Doubled...and Troubled!

Landon has officially doubled in size from his smallest at 4 lbs 1 oz to 8 lbs 2 oz yesterday when we went to the doctor. We were so excited to see that he continues to grow at an outstanding pace. However, Mommy was sad to have to make an extra run to the doctor's office because Landon had been up all night with his first cold! It was pretty troubling to see him so stuffed up and miserable. Of course, with some time and two little tiny drops of a prescription decongestant, he seems much happier - and Mommy is too!

Mother's Day Weekend

Landon had a very special Mother's Day weekend, beginning with his first trip to Bluffton where he met his great-grandparents on the Bertsch side and more cousins on all sides! It was so much fun to see everyone and experience the precious gift of love from so many!!

Mommy and Daddy were also filled with joy on Sunday morning when they stood before their church and dedicated Landon to the Lord, promising to raise him in Godly home. They were reminded again of what an awesome responsibility they have been blessed with through the gift of their little son. After church, Landon continued the Mother's Day celebration with Grandma Kim, Grandpa Jim, Ryan, Great-Grandma Hall, Great-Aunt Diane, Great-Uncle Jerry, and Cousins Jordan and Jillian at Mommy's and Jillian's favorite restaurant - Olive Garden! Landon slept through the whole morning and lunch...

Hurry Up, Mommy!

Now that he is finally ready to make trips out and about, Mommy has discovered that Landon LOVES his carseat! One of his favorite things to do while Mommy is preparing to leave is sit in his seat and look outside in the backyard where spring has finally sprung.

Mommy's Favorite Pictures

So, Mommy's friends who live far away have reminded her that she has fallen behind in posting pictures! So, during another late-night feeding, she decided to go back through all of her pictures and pick some of her favorites to share - beginning with the first night and early days in the NICU and moving on to life at home including the first bath and the official finding of the thumb! When looking through the "old" pictures, Mommy was shocked to see how much Landon has grown and changed in just over six weeks!!

Over 7 Pounds!

After a great 1-month checkup last week, we were excited that Landon continues to gain weight steadily as he weighed in at 7 lbs and 2 oz on Wednesday! It has been so exciting to see him growing and changing. It's also such a joy to see him become so much more expressive and interactive - we're looking forward to that first "real" smile! In the meantime, Mommy loves taking lots of pictures and even cherishes the grumpy faces!!


We had a nice weekend with lots of family visiting from Bluffton, including Grandpa Lonnie and Pat, Great-Uncle Tom and his family, and Great-Aunt Jeanne and hers. Our cousin, Lydia, even decorated an adorable cake to celebrate Landon's birth! It was such a great day!

We also enjoyed celebrating Uncle Ryan's birthday at a Japanese steakhouse where Landon experienced flying knives and flaming volcanoes - Mommy was a little nervous and Landon tried to hide, but it was sure lots of fun!


Mommy and Daddy were also excited to introduce Landon to the baristas on our first trip to our local Starbucks. It's hard to believe that it had been months since Mommy visited a Starbucks!!
